Where’d the name Kunetics come from ?

Kunetics logo

The Kunetics name and logo derive from combining a Chinese myth with a type of energy.

KUN FISH:  There is an ancient Chinese story which describes a mysterious Kun fish who rises from the depths of the sea to transform itself into an enormous mythical Peng bird.  Scholars have studied the meanings and nuances of this story for centuries and there are many interpretations.  To us, it speaks to breaking free from your limitations and transforming yourself into something greater.

KINETIC:  The Kinetic energy of an object is the energy of that it possesses due to its motion.  It is defined as the work needed to accelerate an object from rest to a given velocity.  Just like the Kun Fish transformed into a Peng Bird, Kinetic energy can be transferred between objects and transformed into other kinds of energy.

Kunetics is all about positive change from the mental and physical transformation we achieve through athletics, to exceeding our previous limitations, to thoughtfully using our resources with lower-impact local manufacturing.

Just as you progress from white belt to blue belt all the way up to black belt in jiu jitsu, the kunetics logo evolves with you.  The Kun Fish is always your current belt color while the Peng Bird is always your next belt rank.  Check out the video below that describes this in more detail.
